I-Tech laboratory receives My Green Lab certification

I-Tech’s work in a laboratory environment has been certified by My Green Lab alongside several other companies based in the BioVentureHub at the AstraZeneca Gothenburg R&D site.

Recognised by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign as a key measure of progress towards a zero-carbon future, My Green Lab Certification is considered the gold standard for laboratory sustainability best practices around the world. Hundreds of laboratories all over the world pursue this certification to demonstrate a commitment to laboratory sustainability and motivate behaviour changes within their lab practices.

Members of the I-Tech R&D team worked towards the certification during Spring 2022. At the start of the process, a questionnaire was completed that assessed current practices in the lab. Following the adoption of several aspects relating to improve sustainability in the laboratory, the questionnaire was competed again at a later date to assess improvements that had been made.

Sustainability improvement aspects undertaken by the I-Tech R&D team included saving electricity and water in the lab and reducing hazardous waste, among many others. Other actions undertaken included assigning a point person for sustainability, setting up a Green Labs team and training new hires on lab sustainability best practices.

Different certification levels are awarded (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Green) to companies based on improvements made.

I-Tech was awarded with the highest level of certification: green. The certification is valid for a period of two years.
