Repelling barnacles - Propelling fuel & emission savings

Selektope repels barnacles on any vessel, in any ocean, at any time

Selektope® powers up the performance of any antifouling system

Selektope®-including antifouling coating will effectively keep the ship hull free from barnacles. It gives the best possible protection even at idle in biofouling hot spots

A sustainable solution

Effective during the hardest conditions

Selektope® prohibits barnacle settlement regardless of vessel activity or area of operation. It's applied to a large number of newbuilds to secure best possible coating condition at delivery and service. It also protects vessels under 60 month service intervals.

Reduces fuel consumption and improves hull performance

If barnacle fouling attach to the ship hull, even at lower surface coverages, it causes significant frictional resistance (hydrodynamic drag).

By keeping the ship hull free from barnacles, Selektope® reduces frictional resistance between the ship hull and water, which generates significant savings of both time and costs.

Industry decarbonisation goals

The global carbon dioxide emission debate is a hot topic.

For the shipping industry - targets are set high.

The IMO Green House Gas Strategy, adopted in 2018, sets ambitious targets to halve total GHG emission from ships by 2050, compared to 2008, and to reduce carbon intensity of international shipping by 40% by 2030 compared to 2008.
