Selektope® is approved for use as an active antifouling agent in all important markets.

Selektope® is approved for use as an active antifouling agent in leading marine markets for both newbuild vessel construction and dry docking of existing vessels.

Selektope® fulfils the IMO criteria for approved antifouling compounds, and can therefore, be used without limitations on vessels with global routes. Within the EU, Selektope® is approved for use in all relevant antifouling products.

The areas marked in dark green on the map have none or very limited legal requirements for antifouling substances. In case of notification requirements, I-Tech offers smooth import to all key nations.

Why antifouling coatings are needed

Implementing practices to manage biofouling will assist in saving fuel and costs, reducing the risk of transferring invasive aquatic species, improve ship performance and reduce emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases.

Antifouling coatings are necessary to protect a ship’s hull from marine organisms attaching. Ship owners need marine coating solutions that deliver fouling prevention for vessels with different activity levels, shipping routes and construction. The antifouling coating needs to be persistent whether the vessel is in constant active service or idling in warm waters.

Selektope® offers ingredient technology for antifouling coatings. Selektope® has a specific non-lethal repellent effect on barnacle larvae, which hinders settling on substrates such as the ship hull.
